France is a year-round destination, and the best time to visit depends on the regions you wish to explore. Paris and much of central and northern France have four distinct seasons, with mild spring and fall weather and warmer summers. The South of France enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with hot, sunny summers and mild winters, making the French Riviera appealing for much of the year. In the French Alps, winter is ideal for skiing, while summer brings pleasant temperatures for hiking and outdoor experiences. As a general guide, summer temperatures are often around 75–85°F (24–29°C) in Paris and can reach 80–90°F (27–32°C) in the South of France, while mountain temperatures vary considerably with altitude.
How many days do you need for a luxury trip to France?
Eight to ten days is ideal for experiencing several sides of France without feeling rushed.
